“Living in the Moment” is the name for a joint venture with volunteers from the Whaddon Medical Centre, Red House Surgery and West Bletchley Parish Council.
The aim of the group is to reduce loneliness, isolation and to support those attending with help and advice from different agencies. It is run on a very informal friendly basis and we have had “talks” from the Fire Service, Police, AGE UK, Community Alarm to name but a few together with gift box making and a fun quiz to stretch the mind.
One of the volunteers said “We all have known people who through age, illness or bereavement have found themselves feeling lonely, isolated, and nervous about dealing with everyday tasks that once seemed so simple. Recognizing that there is the potential that one day we might all find ourselves in this position a few of us thought we may be able to bring together people who perhaps live alone or have found themselves single for the first time in their lives”.
The sessions are run on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays from 1:30 – 2:30pm at West Bletchley Council Offices, 221 Whaddon Way, Bletchley, MK3 7DZ. We have regular attendees but would be happy to see more come along!!
There is no cost to attend the group and tea and coffee are provided.
